 Meditation and science
Meditation has historically been associated with religious traditions, especially eremitic & monastic lifestyles. Today much of what is considered meditation in the world is no longer religiously affiliated; Meditation has entered the mainstream of health care as a method of stress & pain reduction.
There is growing agreement in the medical community that mental factors such as stress significantly contribute to a lack of physical health,And there is a growing movement in mainstream science to fund research in this area.

Various researches around the world found these psychosomatic benefits of meditation

YOVEDICA Research is now ready for the next phase in its meditation research center program, which is to actually conducting our own neuro-imaging of a selected group of advanced meditation practitioners. We also intend to characterize further brain dynamics associated with meditation-induced modulation of external stimuli;
we will be using high-density EEG recordings as well as peripheral autonomic nervous system recordings.
  • Meditation creates a unique hypometabolic state, in which the metabolism is in an even deeper state of rest than during sleep. During sleep, oxygen consumption drops by 8 percent, but during meditation, it drops by 10 to 20 percent.
  • Meditation is the only activity that reduces blood lactate, a marker of stress and anxiety.
  • The calming hormones melatonin and serotonin are increased by meditation, and the stress hormone cortisol is decreased.
  • Meditators secrete more of the youth-related hormone DHEA as they age than nonmeditators. Meditating fory-five-year-old males have an average of 23 percent more DHEA than nonmeditators, and meditating females have an average of 47 percent more. This helps decrease stress, heighten memory, preserve sexual function, and control weight.
  • Meditation has a profound effect upon three key indicators of aging: hearing ability, blood pressure, and vision of close objects.
  • Long-term meditators experience 80 percent less heart disease and 50 percent less cancer than nonmeditators.
  • 75 percent of insomniacs were able to sleep normally when they meditated.
  • 34 percent of people with chronic pain significantly reduced medication when they began meditating.

This is the first time we are introducing several secret process assigned with the actual transformation and we are going to do some innovative and genuine work at the proposed meditation research center. The most important point however is to provide an example of how a yogic commune can work by living the life and teaching yoga as well as providing service to the wider community in whatsoever form is needed.
